A TIME FOR AWARENESS AND ACTION
Molly Peppo
Few may be aware of the outrageous health issues going on right now. Vaccinations are being contaminated with deadly viruses, "food safety" bills are being presented that may in fact compromise organic standards. Many do not know about these issues that will jeopardize our health, and it is up to us to take action. We can use the internet in extremely favorable ways to spread political awareness and action. These times should be met not with fear, but with awareness, self-protection and consciousness. The best way to do this is to build and nourish a clean mind and body through clean, organic nutrient dense foods. This will build a mind and body with integrity and spiritual connection. Earlier this month, world media reports that Baxter Pharmaceuticals has admitted that it “accidentally” contaminated various vaccine batches with Avian Flu viruses. These batches were shipped to 18 countries. Baxter International adheres to something called BSL3 (Biosafety Level 3) - a set of laboratory safety protocols that prevent the cross-contamination of materials, that takes away any chance of "accidental" contamination. For the full story visit:http://www.naturalnews.com/025760.html. There are bills being presented in congress this week to compromise organic standards. Americans must be aware of this and voice opposition. Contrast our policies with those of Europe. Although more than 70% of the non-organic food in American supermarkets contains genetically engineered ingredients, opposition to GMO crops in Europe has kept them off the market (except for imported animal feed). Most Europeans seem to realize that biotech crops pose unacceptable risks to human health and the environment. This week, France's Environment Minister Jean-Louis Borloo announced that his country, along with several other European nations, would be renewing its ban on all genetically engineered crops, including Monsanto's GE corn (MON 810), which is the only biotech crop allowed for human consumption in the EU. According to Borloo, "The basis of the safeguard clause, which tackles open-field cultivation of the Monsanto 810 maize, is on risks considered as severe for the environment..." We can follow the example of the Europeans and express outrage and consumer opposition to tampering of our food supply. As American citizens, we must respect the health of our planet. We can not be passive in these matters, which will either ensure the continuity of a healthy planet and civilization as we know it, or won't. Clearly we will not be able to sustain this level of toxicity and environmental pollution. If our environment is compromised and polluted, our body's have no choice but to be filled with toxins, and our minds as well. This weakening of the mind-body biofield leads to apathy. According to a recent (December 2008) global summary report from the Worldwatch Institute: 1) The U.S. leads the world, by far, in genetically engineered crop production and consumption. 2) The widespread planting of crops genetically engineered to resist specific pesticides (which allows farmers to apply more pesticides to their crops) has created 15 new species of plants known as "superweeds" that are resistant to commonly used pesticides. In 2008, these superweeds were discovered on hundreds of thousands of acres of U.S. farmland. 3) Due to the presence of these new superweeds, GM crop production has already led to a $60 million annual increase in pesticide use in the U.S. Most of that money goes to the same companies that developed the GM crops that were supposed to reduce pesticide use in the first place. These companies are controlling us and our economy. This must be stopped. The truth, according to top NASA climate scientists, is that carbon dioxide contributes to a very small percentage of our global warming - from 5-9%. Methane from animal waste and animal agriculture contributes to more than 50%. This is the real problem with global warming. Changing to a vegan diet will protect our environment, cut the demand for meat and all the diseases associated with it, and bring the planet into balance. When asked why he did not mention the vegan diet in his movie An Inconvenient Truth, Al Gore responded that he was not prepared to take on the meat and dairy industries. These are powerful, wealthy industries, and the number one suppliers of nutrition educational materials to our school systems, medical schools, etc. We must educate ourselves and change our ways now to save our futures, our quality of life, and our health. America must wake up from its passivity, which may be hard to do when our water is being fluoridated, our air and food is being sprayed with chemtrails, and our food is genetically modified, radiated, treated with hormones and pesticides designed to paralyze the nervous systems of organisms. To ensure the continuity of our future, our children, (vegetarian mothers have 1x the amount of pesticides a meat eaters in their breast milk) and our planet, we must consider changing our diet and taking responsibility for our health.
